SUPPORTED CHARITIES
The High Sheriff of Worcestershire’s Fund aims to encourage charitable donations which will be distributed to a number of selected local charities through Worcestershire’s charitable hub Worcestershire Community Foundation (WCF).
WCF is a conduit of support and funding for a broad range of different charities and volunteer organisations across the whole county – meaning vital funds can be distributed where they are needed most. This is particularly true during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Money raised by the National Emergencies Trust is channelled through the county foundations.
During the pandemic the Worcestershire Community Foundation supported Worcestershire by raising and distributing over £1.5m of funding for projects across the county, championing local causes and supporting a wide range of projects delivered by voluntary and community sector organisations.
Its current activities range from supporting over 150 community projects, to helping vulnerable families, to seed funding for key local infrastructure projects, to initiatives concerning mental health and wellbeing, disability, isolation and domestic abuse.
Worcestershire Community Foundation was founded in 2003 and is a registered charity serving the communities of Worcestershire. Part of a national network of 46 local community foundations across the UK, WCF is a specialist charitable hub that drives philanthropy across the County, bringing together philanthropic donors, businesses and grant giving bodies with local causes in areas of the community that are most in need. WCF often supports charities and voluntary organisations across Worcestershire who don’t necessarily have the capacity to organise major fundraising campaigns themselves.
